CONVÍVIO

Work produced during an artistic residency that took place between January and April 2012 in Guimarães, part of the project “Memórias Coletivas Singulares” curated by Luís Ribeiro, for Guimarães European Capital of Culture 2012.
 The site-specific interventions, designed for the headquarters of Convivio and Circulo de Arte e Recreio, were developed from the collection and analysis of material from the albums, minutes, reports and press files that make up the immense archive of these associations. Between scattered information and some material lost from the more than 50 years of Convívio and the more than 70 years of CAR’s activity, both interventions seek to present themselves as a testimony of this history and echo the atmosphere and dynamics of the space they occupy.

 Convívio 2012 (acrylic paint and stamp on wall) is an intervention adapted to the intimate space of the library, visually organizing information related to the multiple activities of Convivio, distributed through it’s walls chronologically by decades and catalogued by spines of different colors.
