Mafalda Santos (PT, born in 1980)
Mafalda Santos is an artist and programmer. She has been exhibiting in Portugal and abroad since 2001. Graduated in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto.
Between 2002 and 2007, she was a programmer for the artist-run space PêSSEGOpráSEMANA, in Porto
In 2007/2008, with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the LusoAmerican Foundation for Development (FLAD), she held a Location One artistic residency in New York.
Selected for the 2007 EDP New Artists Award and in 2005 for the exhibition “7 artistas ao 10º mês” at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Between 2013 and 2018, together with Manuel Mesquita, she managed the artist residency program Moinho da Fonte Santa in Alentejo, in Alandroal.
Responsible with Susana Gaudêncio for the project Pessoa Colectiva, organizing events and shows since 2012.
Her work is included in the Portuguese collections of António Cachola, of the EDP and Ilídio Pinho Foundations, RAR Group, PLMJ Foundation, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon City Hall and Porto City Hall and in the Art Collection of the Portuguese State.
