XXVVII Carpe Diem Exhibition Cycle group exhibition, Lisbon
“The project Mafalda Santos designed for XXVVII Carpe Diem Exhibition Cycle entitled Alvará (Permit) involves the building of a wall of stacked paper, blocks of upcycled prints meant for obliteration. The viewer is never given access to the content of these prints, displaying instead its margins, much like different strata of a rock, as if one could read the stories it contains through its various layers. A monument to memory and knowledge? Or maybe a solid reminder of our footprint in the ecosystem.”
