In The Shape of Time (1961) George Kubler highlights objects that, with greater accuracy than we imagine, mark the passage of time and fill it with shapes; in this sense, our existence depends on the existence of objects from the past that surround us. The objects desired by Man are vestiges that remain through our senses and are perpetuated through time. This conversation discusses some landmarks in the flow of artistic objects and others inventoried by the participants in their private history and parallel biography, in a time axis between 1977 and 2013. By selecting a number of objects and events from two distinct but simultaneous narrative lines, Susana Gaudêncio and Mafalda Santos * will reconstitute situations of wonder and criticism, looking for cleavages, overlaps, elective affinities, which when confronted with each other will help to create a collective classification system that will manufacture a fiction narrative common to both artists.
