ALVARÁ

The project conceived by Mafalda Santos is entitled “Alvará” and involves the construction of a wall of used paper, of different natures, stacked next to the glass, in order to completely cover A Montra (Storefront). The intervention plays on issues such as the accumulation, obsolescence and abandonment of as many spaces as this closed shop, whose history can be told by layers of documents and dead bureaucracy. Like a longitudinal section to analyze the different strata of a rock, this work challenges the observer´s ability to read the history of a place from the marks and residues that it accumulates over time.
