Mafalda Santos (PT, 1980)

Mafalda Santos is an artist and curator who graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto. She has been exhibiting in Portugal and abroad since 2001. Between 2002 and 2007, she was a programmer for the artist-run space PêSSEGOpráSEMANA in Porto.
In 2005, she was selected for the exhibition “7 Artistas ao 10.º Mês” at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and in 2007, for the EDP New Artists Award. In 2007/2008, supported by a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), she held an artistic residency at Location One in New York.
Since 2012, she has been responsible, with Susana Gaudêncio, for the project Pessoa Colectiva, organizing events and shows. From 2013 to 2018, together with Manuel Mesquita, she managed the Moinho da Fonte Santa artist residency program in Alandroal, Alentejo.

In 2023, she was appointed Artistic Director of the Cerveira International Art Biennial Foundation.

Her work is represented in the Art Collection of the Portuguese State, the Calouste Gulbenkian, EDP, and PLMJ Foundations, the RAR Group, the Ilídio Pinho and António Cachola collections, and the municipal collections of Lisbon and Porto.
